Converting from employee to business

Featured Replies

I’d appreciate advice on two possible scenarios please:
1) I work for a Thai company. Thinking of starting a business partnering with two Thais. Married to a Thai but my visa is company sponsored with work permit. I’d like to know what I need to do in order to work and live in Thailand if I finish with my current employment.

2) can I remain as employee (two years left on visa and work permit) in my current job and start the new company?

1) Even in a partnership as you describe you will still need a Work Permit, however your annual extensions could be based on being married in lieu of being company sponsored.

2) your Work Permit is linked to your employer, who may not be willing for you to have a second employment.
