Knee replacement

Hi,

Any recommandation for good surgeon/hospital would be welcome.I am near Pattaya,but not sure of the quality of local hospitals.Bangkok seems to be the best bet.

I think Dr. Panya at Bumrungrad is considered very good. He's treated my knee with Synvisc injections, but I haven't bitten the bullet and gotten a replacement yet. I know someone who has and that person was satisfied with Dr. Panya's work.

Dr. Panya is indeed the best knee specialist

Thanks for the excellent referrals, as usual. I have an appointment with Dr. Panya next month, and I was wondering how much time I need to devote to this process in Thailand. The reason is that I do not live in Thailand at the moment, but am able to stay longer if necessary. At this point, I'm pretty sure I will need one knee done, and perhaps two. I have read about the recovery process abroad, but I wonder what Bumrungrad does as they cater to foreigners flying in so may have streamlined this process.

 

Initially, I have scheduled 30 days in Thailand, and will see Dr. Panya immediately after exiting the Thailand pass one night quarantine. I'm hoping he can get the surgery scheduled (if warranted), and have enough follow up with me afterwards in that 30 days? If not, I can stay longer and extend my visa, but it would be nice to make potential plans now.

 

Thanks as usual for all your excellent help on this forum. I'm not sure if you remember, but a few years ago (about 8 years), you were a big help to me recommending Manarom Hospital for a special needs case I needed to handle.

Surgery if indicated can be scheduled right away, even within same week in many cases (you'll need a day or two for pre-op workup).  Hospital stay is short, 3 nights at most unless there are complications.  While you may need to continue PT beyond 30 days by then  you should know the exercises and be able to do them yourself.

 

So quite possible within 30 days.

Best place for joint replacements in terms of low cost and still good quality is India but entering may not yet be an option (COVID restrictions).

Thanks a lot to all the members who replied .I will first try 2 more injections of hyaluronic acid in the knee at Phyathai Sriracha (dr Arthithat).Think I will discuss about 3 injections in second knee in order to support my body correctly after surgery (arthrose in this one too
