Vietnam warship takes part in ASEAN - Russia naval drills

The first-ever joint naval exercise between Russia and Southeast Asia is being held off the Indonesian coast, and Vietnam has sent its frigate HQ-012 Ly Thai To.

The three-day ASEAN - Russia Naval Exercise began Wednesday at Indonesia's Belawan naval base in Sumatra.

The Vietnamese vessel will take part in communications, formation, search and rescue, and other activities at sea.
