Thai media Thai Rath went to Phangnga in the south of Thailand where they said businesses were smiling again after alcohol restrictions were eased.

The province announced that people in restaurants could now enjoy a drink with their meal until 11 pm from December 1st.

Restaurateur Sittha Tangmaneesakul, manager of Phak Khom restuarant in Takuapa district welcomed the move saying that up to now most of his customers had been Thais but increasing the time he could serve alcohol gave him hope of more domestic and even foreign tourists.

Meanwhile the media reported that bookings of hotels in the area were up 20-25% for December and 30.35% for January 2022.

Many of these are European tourists from France, Germany and Austria or Scandinavia fleeing the European winter and would be staying well into February,  said Pongsakorn Ketpraphakorn a local tourism business leader.

Are there many places still open?

Be interesting to hear from people actually there.

3 weeks ago all 6 feet under, though they never really stopped selling booze.
