Myanmar refugees went on the rampage at a camp in Thailand’s western province of Tak on Tuesday night, torching checkpoints and vehicles, in protest against the detention and alleged assault by Thai defence volunteers of four of their countrymen who snuck out of the camp to find work.

Protesters fighting the industrial estate project in Chana district of Thailand’s Songkhla province agreed to return home this morning (Wednesday), after the cabinet decision to suspend the project and to assign the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) to run the strategic environmental impact assessment (SEA) was finally published in the government’s website last night.

Cabinet waives toll fees on motorways no. 7 and 9 for New Year’s

Nine Omicron cases confirmed in Thailand to date, five others await confirmation

One more Omicron variant case has been confirmed in Thailand, bringing total confirmed cases to date to nine, plus five potential cases still awaiting confirmation by means of whole genome sequencing (WGS) tests, according to Director-General of the Medical Sciences Department Dr. Supakit Sirilak.

Hotel investment activity in Thailand rebounding strongly, says JLL report

Bangkok, 14 December 2021 – Investment volume in Thailand’s hospitality sector in 2021 is expected to grow more than five times the volume witnessed in 2020, reaching THB 12 billion by year-end, JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated) predicts.  Year to date, 13 properties have been sold, totaling THB5 billion of combined value, compared to four properties worth THB1.9 billion in total sold last year.

Reactions to Thailand’s one of the oldest railway station being closed

Thai citizens have mixed reactions about the closure of Hua Lamphong Station in central Bangkok, one of the very first stations of Thailand from over 100 years, as to develop the area into a mix-used area, where all railway lines including commercial, short-distance, and long-distance lines were relocated to Bang Sue Station.
