BANGKOK (์NNT) - Thailand is now making preparations on raising its goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions to 40%, instead of 20-25%, by 2065. The revision to the country’s medium-term emissions reduction target comes in response to pledges made at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and the realization that global temperatures are trending toward a 2.3 degrees Celsius increase.

Riot re-erupts, fire breaks out at Krabi prison over COVID-19 management

Rioting inmates at Thailand’s Krabi provincial prison set fire at their sleeping quarters at about 5.30pm today (Friday), as health and security officials were trying to screen inmates with rapid antigen kits, prior to moving some to other prisons. The riot restarted today, after the first round yesterday.

Benchakitti Park to partially open after major renovation

Thai court stays order denying free emergency treatment of side effects of vaccines purchased at private hospitals

On Friday, the Thai Central Administrative Court ordered a stay of the Ministry of Public Health order, which excludes people who suffer side effects after being inoculated with alternative COVID-19 vaccines at private hospitals from eligibility for free emergency medical treatment.

Thai officials to move remaining 600 inmates out of Krabi prison today

More than 1,100 inmates at Krabi provincial prison were transferred to prisons in Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla provinces during Friday night, with the remaining 600 to be moved today.
