Reporters from Daily News went to the village of Nong Bua Sa-ard in Bua Yai district of Nakhon Ratchasime, the area of north eastern Thailand known as Korat.

There they found locals worried about accidents from several large potholes in the roads.

One was caused by a burst pipe after heavy rains.

They had taken matters into their own hands with some impromptu oil drum and stone laying warnings.

A road had been reduced to one lane.

They feared accidents at New Year if the sluggish local authority didn't get moving on their repair requests.
