Champion motorcycle tyres

Anyone tried Champion tyres? I'm tempted to give them a go, at 1,000 baht a pair they seem to have good ratings. Alternatively I'm going to get IRCs for 1,600 baht which have been very good the last 4 years.

I tried Castrol Bike Point that someone recommended on another spread, the boss just quoted stupid farang prices even though i said I'm checking prices, so waste of time going there

Champion are top tyres and fine for scoots and waves and higher cc capacity bikes.

IRC have got much better over the years too but if you find Champion cheaper go for it.

Good advice thanks, at 1,000 baht fitted I'll give them a try on my Click

Yeah no problem maybe knocking them out cheaper because there old shelf life but you got 10 years from manufacturers estimate date of production and thats again an estimate.

You can always check on the side walls if you are concerned.

Ended up getting some new tyres, garage had Champion then suddenly no have and the replacement is Fujiyama Kicker which i bought, reviews seem ok. Garage that is usually very good massively overinflated the tyres, must have been 50-60 PSI at least, tyres felt weird, front wheel too loose, back wheel slid out slightly over a metal sheet as it just started raining. Very dangerous i reckon.

Anyway as soon as i got home let air out of both, then checked again this morning still too high so dropped it further to correct PSI, tyres ok now.

Moral to the story, take some air out of the tyres before leaving the garage

What is the opinion of Metzler tires?

Owned by Pirelly group, and great performance and longevity if you choose right tires for your purpose.

@kawasaki

Discussion about how old tires can be after production date, is 4-5 years. I prefer not to buy older tires than one year after production date.

A one-year-old tire is considered very, very fresh. In fact, most tire companies put the "sell by" date somewhere out around five years from the date of manufacture. So unless you don't expect to wear the tire out within five years from the date that's stamped on the sidewall, don't sweat it.
