Where to apply for 30 day extension of Visa exempt

Featured Replies

I entered Thailand on a 30 day exempt entry which expires 3 January 2022. I would like to apply for a 30 day extension next week in Bangkok, but am not sure if I should apply at the Immigration office in Chaeng Wattana, or Muangthong Thani? Can someone advise please? Thank you.

You will apply for the 30 day extension at Muang Thong Thani.

Thank you, ubonjoe. Greatly appreciated!

An additional question please. Do I need to make an appointment in advance, or can I just show up to apply at Muang Thong Thani?

No appointment is possible or needed.

Make sure you fill out your TM 7 and have all your documents copied. It’s on there site. Pretty straight forward and easy.

Just to bump this thread rather than create a new one:

At MTT is the 30-day extension effective from application date or waiver expiration date?

If expiration date, how early can the extension be obtained? (10-14 days okay?)

No onward ticket requirement, correct?

TIA

No reports of outbound flight being asked for at MTT. Few reports from CW that some folk were asked.

Your extension will date from end of current permission of stay.

Normally couple of week early to apply, no problem.

Depending on your dates you might be able to do it even earlier to beat the Jan 25 date.

Thinking it will be extended. Crazy if not.

Thanks. It sounds like some of your response pertains to the Covid extension, so did you mean regular 30 day extension followed by a 60-day Covid extension prior to Jan 25?

That may not work for us (entry on 22Dec, so 30 day extension would go to around 20Feb) but is worth a try if it appears Covid extensions will end 25Jan - we only want one of those anyway so we can depart in April (Covid-permitting at destination).

Indeed a covid extension prior to Jan 25 for you would mean apply approx 25 days early. So perhaps doubtful.

There will be others in exact same boat as yourself. Keep an eye on reports.

Can't see covid extensions not being continued.

Of course that's just one opinion.

Got to CW and was confused why I was being sent away ???? wish I saw this earlier.
