Activate NON OA Visa after arrival in Thailand

Featured Replies

I am not sure I will receive my OA Visa before arriving in Thailand. Embassy is currently not answering calls, mails etc. FB Messenger reply tells me to write Email regarding my situation, which I did.

I dont want to blame the embassy as I assume they are really busy at the moment.

Is it possible to activate a late E-Visa while already in Thailand? Visa run is not really feasible at the moment. Thanks

I currently have an OA and I am in Thailand.  If you arrive in Thailand without the actual visa affixed to your passport then you would be entering as Visa Exempt? E-Visa is the electronic system now used by Thai Embassy/Consulate to apply for the Visa.  No such thing as activating an E-visa while in Thailand.

Have you sent in your passport to get the Visa affixed?

You do not have to send your passport to get the stickerless e visa be put in your passport. It is sent to you by email.

After entering the country you would not be able to use your visa to get a entry from it.

Your only choice would be to leave and re-enter the country to use it.

The Thai Embassy in DC does not email a sticker less OA E-visa.  It is an actual Visa that has to affixed.  I did not realize some Thai Embassies email an actual OA Visa?

This is from the Thai Embassy in DC

Since 27 September 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy has been implementing “stickerless”
E-visa service. Please note that it is no longer required to submit passport and original documents via mail to the Royal Thai Embassy.

After the E-visa application has been approved, a confirmation email will be sent to applicants.
It is kindly requested to print a copy of the confirmation email to present to airline and
the Thai Immigration Officials to carry out checks when traveling to Thailand

To me that sounds like all the other E-visa I have done in the past.  You apply be email.  When you are approved they send some paperwork which you present at immigration when you arrive.  Then immigration sticks the actual visa in your passport.

I will find for sure in about a month as to exactly what the LA Consulate does.  This is the same consulate that wants the 1.2 Million baht or 100,000 baht per month for the OA.

That is wrong info on one page on their website. This one has the correct info.

Actually the LA Consulate website has contradictory information.   Only the Consulate knows which standards they will enforce.

The financial requirements for a OA visa has not been changed.

They are under the embassy in Washington DC and they still have the 800k baht number on their website.

If it is mistake then it is still on the consulate website because I just pulled it now:

7. Applicant must have a bank deposit of
7.1 no less than 1,200,000 Baht or
7.2 an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income (pension) of not less than 100,000 Baht, or
7.3 a deposit account plus a monthly income (pension) totaling not less than 1,200,000 Baht.

In the case of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required

Perhaps you should inform then that their is an error on their site. Ask them why this page on their site has a different amount on this page. https://thaiconsulatela.org/en/visa/visa-type/non-immigration-category-o-a/

And this page on the embassy website. https://thaiembdc.org/2020/11/17/oalongstay/

Or in this illustration on this page of the Department of Consular Affairs of the MFA website.
