BANGKOK (NNT) - With New Year celebrations just around the corner amidst the increase of Omicron cases, the Prime Minister has reminded event organizers to strictly comply with the Covid Free Settings, while urging the general public to always have a mask on.

In his Facebook post, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha asked everyone to always wear a mask when meeting other people, and avoid visiting crowded places, especially poorly ventilated settings.

He urged unvaccinated people to get their jabs at the earliest opportunity.

He then asked people traveling or celebrating the New Year to closely monitor themselves for symptoms after returning home, and perform a self-test should they experience any symptoms. He recommended people work from home after the long break before returning to the office.

He reminded businesses to strictly comply with the Covid Free Settings, as well as other measures, warning that failure to comply will result in immediate closure.

Why is it that everyone is told to wear a mask when the majority of masks are useless and do not stop anything that comes out of the mouth or is breathed in. It is a worldwide brainwashing of the population to make them think they are having an effect in keeping Covid at bay. However the increasing numbers of cases prove otherwise. When Covid first came out we were repeatedly told that only N95 masks were any good. Now the rules say that any mask will do !! A $1 paper mask is not going to help.

I got some N95 masks, but my glasses still get fogged up, showing that my 'Covid laden' breath is escaping.

The only good thing about wearing masks is that I can swear at bad drivers when riding or driving and they can't see me. Other then that it's bull.

That is nonsense.

Why are you wasting our time with it?

Stops spitttle. All for it indoors and crowded places but mandatory everywhere is too much. Big impingement on quality of life and sadly it’ll be a thing in Asia forever.

If that's so their tourism will never thrive again.

I can't imagine Thailand will keep masks mandatory when this thing turns into an endemic or even before that.
