How To Update From "OnePlus 2" Mobile to Latest Samsung

Featured Replies

My very first (and 5 years old) "OnePlus 2" mobile (Android 6) has had its day:

So what's the latest/greatest mobile to go for - Samsung, OnePlus, Google, Xiaomi? - and, most importantly, how do I get all my stuff transferred to the new phone?

My old OnePlus 2 was 16,000 baht and the latest - OnePlus 9, OnePlus Nord - are about 19,000 but I've no idea how they compare with the latest Samsungs.

So, any suggestions or actual experiences will be gratefully received.

Internet is full of information how you can move all your data from old android phone to new one!

What kind new phone you buy is up to you, what you want from new phone. If only daily use and dont need many cameras etc. stuff then buy some phone about cost 100€. It already has all what you needed. I am iphone guy and i just buy new iphone 12, not latest 13 coz 12 was few hundred € cheaper.

Anyway i update 5 G conection and 12 was first 5G iphone.

My wife has a Samsung. I have a plain vanilla Android Xiaomi Go.

Wife's Samsung drives me insane. It's like a totally different OS.

Just a thought.

Happy New Year.

My OnePlus 2 has a different operating system called "Oxygen".  It's based on Android, but different enough that Googling any problems with it result in mostly useless results relating to Android. That's why I'm thinking "go with the flow" - get a stock Android phone.

Budget?

This is bit like asking "What should I eat for dinner tonight?"

Need to understand your requirements in great detail.

Probably better if you do your own basic research, narrow down the field to ~ five-ish models, which are also available here. Then ask for input.

Updating to a new phone is relatively automated (for the Google stuff incl apps, data, contacts, even photos if you're backing those up to Drive now) in the current Android world, but you still need to backup all your data (music, photos, audio books - all the stuff you added/created) and then copy that which you need back to the new phone.

My one recommendation would be to try to get the newest model possible, preferably shipping with or immediately upgradeable to, Android 12.

Well, I had a look around today. I can't believe the Galaxy folding phones can be opened and closed 200,000 times without the screen cracking - that's 5 years at 200 times per day!

So, as far as Budget is concerned, I guess 30,000 to 40,000 is OK. My old OnePlus 2 was only 15,000 baht and their new OnePlus 9 Pro is around 30,000, but I didn't see one of them today.

And the Galaxy S series are around that price. I guess it's time for me to do some boring research...
