PHUKET (NNT) - A Big Cleaning Day activity has taken place at Rassada Port in Phuket, where face masks were handed out to tourists who were at the port to board vessels, in an attempt to instill confidence among the tourists and members of the public.

Phuket governor Narong Woonciew was handing out face masks to tourists at Rassada Port in Mueang Phuket district, and urged the tourists to wear masks at all times when not inside their accommodations. Afterward, the governor presided over the launch of a Big Cleaning Day activity at the port, which drew participation from civil service representatives and members of the press.

Nakharin Yosaengrat, mayor of Ratsada Subdistrict Municipality in Mueang Phuket district, said his office worked with public and private agencies in the area as well as locals to organize the Big Cleaning Day, which is aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 and instilling confidence in locals and tourists amid the current outbreak period of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. He said the activity received good cooperation from local residents.

The Phuket governor said COVID-19 is spreading more rapidly as new variants of the coronavirus come into play, and the best practices for preventing the disease is the wearing of face masks, regular hand-washing, and maintaining good personal hygiene.

I applaud all efforts of cleaning of any kind in Thailand, as well as trash removal.

However if they think they are cleaning the parking lot surfaces for viruses, don't tell them the UV rays from the powerful sunlight already took care of that.

Carry on...
