I am about to be 86, have been diabetic for the last 20 years, started with the accu check, still use it once a month or so but in reality I have learnt how to understand my own body. I can tell when my blood sugar is too high, by many signs, just just use the meter to sometimes double check. The strips if kept in their air tight container never seem to degenerate. I had to modify the automatic pricking device as it was not getting deep enough into my skin,

Can't remember for sure but believe the yeast requires sugar to activate?  I gave up cooking 60 years ago.

You that old Lop?

Thanks for your help.

Maybe not quite - only high side of 79 and sliding down the hill.

Maybe off topic but every recipe in my bread maker contains sugar.

Is sugar really necessary in bread?

Absolutely not, I make bread and never use it

Thanks Sheryl. You are a little star.

I went there today and got the test.

300 Baht. Quick and easy. They sent the result by Line in a couple of hours.

Result was 6.2. Much improved from last time.

You beat me - mine 6.3 on April 1st and cost was 590 Baht in major Bangkok hospital.  Staying steady from 2 years ago - even eating some ice cream each day.

Not easy being an old git is it Lop?

I have spent 3 months on Carrot french fries and Rice Berry Rice.

Sick to death of carrots to be honest.
