Two persons that I know wanted to come to Phuket and stay four months.

They have been suggested (suppose by a travel agent.....), to get a non O retirement visa, before coming, for the first 90 days and later to go to the immigration for asking a covid extension.
They went to the Immigration and they have been told that it is not possible to have the covid extension for this type of visa.
Does anybody know if this is correct ?

If they cannot get the covid extension, one possibility to get one more month of staying could be to ask for the one year extension based on non O visa (letter of the consulate or 800,000 baht, etc....)

Has somebody some easier ideas ?

There is no rule that states they cannot get a 60 day covid 19 extension.

What office told them they could not get one?

Unless the plan on staying here for a year applying for the one year extension based upon retirement would not be a good option. The 800k baht would have to be in a Thai bank for 2 months to apply. No all embassies will issue proof the 65k monthly income.

Somewhat confusing question ?

If outside of Thailand now, can apply for a 60 day tourist visa which can be extended for a further 30 days in country - Then perhaps a further 60 day covid extension - IF this is extended past 25th January.

Can also enter 30 days visa exempt & extend for further 30 days, then possible covid extension.

If only staying 4 months, no need to go down the Non O route.

You missed this from the OP....

"They went to the Immigration and they have been told that it is not possible to have the covid extension for this type of visa...."

OP, think the immigration office (rightly or wrongly) know that they had the option to obtain 12 month extension.

Which immigration office?

Bit of messing around but I would try different office.

If the have outbound flight take ticket along and plead the case that only need another month.

Last resort is to use agent for 12 month extension.

They have a non O so only need the extension approx 15-20k

Thanks for the answers.

The office is Phuket Town, probably they did not explain well their situation.

I think they do not even know exactly what is the meaning of non - O ...........
For sure they have been ill-advised by a travel agent before leaving.

Fortunately for them their country still issues the income letter.
Will suggest them to try with Patong Immigration
If no results I think a local agent would be advisable
