My first question is what the hel_l are the Statue of Liberty, Christ the Redeemer, the Eiffel Tower and the Sydney Opera House doing on that list???

None of them cause and particular WONDER in my mind!

Personally I think the Lions Rock in Sigiriya Sri Lanka should be on that list.

Of what there is in no particular order...

Giza Pyramids

Angkor Wat (even though they are trying there hardest to turn it into some kind of amusement park!)

Stonehenge

Petra

Taj Mahal

Acropolis

Great Wall of China

Just 5 that IMO should definitely be on the list:

In no particular order:

Angkor Wat

Stonehenge

Great Wall of China

Giza pyramids

Easter Island Statues

and one I didn't see on the list and not yet completed:

Burj Dubai, which may exceed 1km in height.

You're talking mainly about big constructions. Surely you'd have to include the Channel Tunnel in there.

I found the choices to be limited, and some of them to be silly. Why aren't the pyramids listed as a choice? What about Pagan, Burma, Wat Haripunchaiya in Lamphun? Maple Leaf Gardens? Yankee Stadium? Old Trafford? Anyway, I voted for Angkor, Stonehenge, the Acropolis, Easter Island and three others that I have forgotten already.

The pyramids are listed.... Pyramid of Giza is the largest of them all. You have a point as this pyramid is on the original "Seven Wonders of the World" list, so it's hardly new.

Old Trafford?

:o:D :D :D

O.K. if we're going to be silly, lets include Stamford Bridge, Headingly, The Oval, Anfield, Minster Recreation Ground (Thanet), The Crucible & Lakeside.

P.S. I suppose I did start the silly ones, but then again any Pub or Bar used to be a wonder of the World to me. :D:bah:

The link is in post #1.

I'm not able to paste/copy at this moment...sorry for that, otherwise I would have done it.

IMO 'Christ the Redeemer' is not a wonder of the world by a long shot. It's incredible that this was placed above real wonders like 'Angkor Wat' and Stonehenge and many others. For what reason is it considered a wonder? Sure it's a well-known monument, but a wonder?

I wonder (pardon the pun) why the Terracotta Army in China didn't make the wonder list. They only discovered it in 1974 so it wasn't on the original 7 wonders list, but hardly anything can top it IMO.

Agree with you, except I would place the Easter Island statues ahead of Stonehenge.
