Could anyone inform me of how I notify Immigration of my change of address please?

That is, if it's a requirement. Just moved apartment.

At most offices now they will only want a TM30 report done to change you address.

Yes, but your landlord or houseowner should do it and they need to be registered with immigration.

but there are places that don't inform immigration of anything and as such I presume one has to do it themselves.

Isn't that correct ?   and can it be done a week after moving ?  online ..... 

It is supposed to be done within 7 days. Of course it is rather difficult for Immigration to determine the exact date you moved.
