Traffic Jammed Early Monday?

trains can be late .... but at 7am you could take the subway to silom and the skytrain to Saphan Thaksin and be very close to your hotel

in other words ... yes your train could be late ... and yes you could run into traffic ... Probably traffic will be minimal from Hualomphong to the ShangriLa until after 8am

Thankyou.

Actually I have an agoraphobia problem and as yet cannot travel normally and certainly no skytrain.

This will be my first trip outside Chiangmai on public transport for well over three years except for a test run I did to a local station last week.

I was hoping a friend was going to accompany me but it's not happening.

I am full of anxiety even about going in a taxi alone and being in a big city with big buildings. Even ten or fifteen minutes will be bad enough....I am trying to decide whether or not to do it yet as a full blown panic attack can set me back rather than a be step forward.

It will take you more than 10 minutes, even if you came in at 3am. Given you will pick up traffic at that hour once you get closer to the central business district area, your trip would be about 45 minute to an hour. It could be slightly less or slightly more, but if it rains, it will be more.

If all this sounds like a nightmare to you, don't make the trip. Also, when you get to the hotel did you plan on leaving the hotel at any time? If so, you will probably again find yourself in a taxi in traffic trying to get from A to B.

thankyou Ol Man

I shall feel fairly safe when I get to my friend's condo at River Garden next to the Shangri la. I thought I could settle in, take it easy, and ease myself into the feel of Bangkok. If I can I would venture out. If I can't just enjoy being with my friends. I am happy that at least it is becoming conceivable....three years ago I couldn't walk more than a hundred yards or go outside the moat in Chiangmai. I have progressed without drugs or drink. I try to not look at it as a problem but just a part of my life right now. Other people have heart disease, diabetes, glaucoma. It can be dreadful sometimes but all in all it could be worse.

OH jdinasia! just saw your post...

how much time would you say please?

After you arrive, it will take you around 10-15 minutes to go to Shagrila hotel by taxi.

The station you arrive at is Hua Lamphong and that is very near your destination.

Less than 3 kms from the Shangrila and there won't be much traffic in the route you take.

Thankyou kindly Pampal sounds even better than JDs PM.

I have changed to Sunday arrival and therefore now confident of a quick taxi trip.

Sounds ridiculous to worry but that's life.
