Anutin latest: Bigs up nation in making comparisons with USA - comments on "endemic" status in Thailand

Thailand's health minister and DPM has praised Thailand in remarks comparing the kingdom with the Covid-19 situation in the USA.

 

In comments reported by INN he said that the number of infections was coming down but the focus should be on the seriously ill. He noted that the USA has had a very high death toll. Despite Omicron being mild. 

 

He also noted that many people in the USA were still unvaccinated.

 

He praised Thais for their spirit of cooperation particularly for their mask wearing compliance and hand washing.

 

This was true even when they went on their travels up country.  

 

He conceded that the lifestyle in the US was different.

 

He called for continuing vigilance and observance of protocols along with ATK testing at the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations in Thailand that start on Tuesday.

 

He said there were no new travel restrictions in place for the festival and no new limits on gatherings. 

 

He said that many things had to be considered before it could be said that the disease was endemic in Thailand - that was not something that could be announced tomorrow.

 

Other reports have been suggesting that the country will declare Covid endemic rather than a pandemic before the year is out irrespective of what the WHO might say, notes ASEAN NOW.

But the populace and loves and admires them because they are born leaders, being entertaining, and relating to what lockdown impoverished people need to see in a leader - even if it's a whole bag of lies. Omicron, now an endemic, is a great platform to sell his wares. Just putting himself at the same level or better than the USA government, is a voting gimme for Thais.

Ya, strangely enough, just about the same share as in Thailand -- about one-third of the population in each country has NOT been fully vaccinated, meaning two doses.

 

But at least, the U.S. has plenty of more effective mRNA vaccine doses for its population that wants them.

 

And isn't,  like Thailand, having to beg for donated mRNA doses and use them to re-vaccinate people who it gave less effective vaccine doses to in the first place.

He is right. The lifestyle is very different. A highly successful vaccination program, with the best vaccines from the beginning, all free to anyone, anytime, anywhere, regardless of race or immigration status, and citizenship. And an infinitely higher level of PCR tests, also free to anyone who asks. What a concept. 

 

Yes, the numbers are far higher in the US. Many factors have to be taken into account, including the 40% of the Darwinists there, who refuse to get vaccinated, and Trump's insistence on ignoring the problem for so long. And the far higher level of testing. 

 

Also, freedom of the press is different. And freedom to criticize. And freedom to vote in real elections. And people elected sometimes, based on merit. So different. And of course, the practice of traffic safety, and real law enforcement. 

 

Other than that, Thailand is better. The women are better. The food is better. The climate is better, for most of the year. The police are easy to bribe. And Thailand is infinitely more reasonable and pleasant. So, for a change you are at least partly right, Anutin. First time, perhaps.

You've got to remember that the Chinese still have some serious outbreaks to get through, their zero Covid policy only defers the day of reckoning, it doesn't avoid it, unless they intend becoming another hermit kingdom. Still, if their first "real" experience of Covid after Wuhan is Omicron, or something similarly mild, then it should mean far fewer deaths than have been suffered in the West and their policy will probably have been worthwhile.
