Naew Na reported that police from the central investigation branch would be going to Rayong today in connection with the huge oil spill in the Gulf of Thailand.

Pol Lt-Gen Jiraphop Phuridech said that as volunteers continued to clear the devastating oil spill in the central/eastern Thai province a police investigation is being mounted looking into possible violations of ecology codes.

If there has been law breaking he promised prosecutions.

Meanwhile Thai print media reported that operators on the holiday island of Koh Samet fear losing 1.5 billion baht over the next three months as cancellations of hotel bookings occurred following a break down of tourism confidence.

The cancellations are both among Thai tourists and foreign tourists who have decided to holiday elsewhere in light of the oil spill.

" Possible violations of ecology code"

May I suggest if they are not then it is time to reign the big oil boys in

The hits are just keep on flying in - it seems. I - for one - wonder now, how the TAT will turn this manmade disaster around as yet another achievement of the glorious tourism promotion clowns.

Unless someone hits the brakes hard and long, this country will slide further into the abyss of a failed state sooner than anyone would expect!
