Two female Buddhist teachers shot dead in Narathiwat school

Narathiwat - Muslim insurgents stormed into a school and shot dead two female teachers in front of students Monday.

The two teachers - Yupha Sengwas, 26, and Tippaporn Tangsopha, were shot dead while they were about to have lunch in the teachers' office.

The shootings took place at 12:10 pm in front of a lot of terrified students.

Tippaporn had requested a permission for a transfer to Songkhla for fear of her safety.

Gunmen armed with handguns walked unchallenged into a school library in Narathiwat province on Monday, and emptied 11 rounds into two female Buddhist teachers, killing them on the spot - and then walked back out and escaped.

Not far away, two assailants shot dead male teacher Somai Raocharoensuk as he bought cigarettes at a store, 100 metres from his school in Rangae town.
