swm59nj Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Maybe it’s the top Chinese New Years destination without the Chinese.
brewsterbudgen Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 It is strange how so many Thais seem to revere Chinese culture, although I guess it's mostly the light-skinned "hi-so" types. I bet they wouldn't want live there! 1
Knocker33 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 It wasn't this year. Only good thing about the Chinese flu is the Chinese can not travel. 2

I bet they wouldn't want live there! It is not so strange when so many Thais have Chinese blood. Wikipedia: Thai Chinese are the largest minority group in the country and the largest overseas Chinese community in the world with a population of approximately 10 million people, accounting for 11–14% of the total population of the country as of 2012.[2][1][3] It is also the oldest and most prominent integrated overseas Chinese community.
jacko45k Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Since Chinese are not being permitted to travel, and CNY is over with by several days, and Thailand imposed quarantine or sandbox up until that day, I find this all quite a surprise.
spidermike007 Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 You know the level of desperation is building when a PM of a nation brags about an Agoda posting of popularity. Don't you have any real work to do? Millions are out of work, the tourism industry is dying a slow death, your nation is still lacking the top vaccines, and this is all you got?
The Hammer2021 Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 The sad truth is this was the quietest CNY for decades here in Thailand. In Pattaya it went virtually unnotice. 1
