Miss Thailand: Pretty in pink bikini babes beg the question - Are Thai women really the most beautiful in the world?

Daily News reported on an event that many people - especially men - had been waiting for.

The bikini section of this year's Miss Thailand  beauty pageant.

It was held live at Central World and broadcast via True 24.

Famous presenters Arm and Praew - herself a former Miss Universe contestant - were in charge.

The bevy of beauties all strutted their stuff in pink bathing costumes.

Despite claiming to have some of the most beautiful women in the world, success on the international stage has largely eluded Thailand in recent years.

There has never been a Thai Miss World since the competition started in 1951.

There have been two Thai Miss Universes - Apasra Honksakula in 1965 and Porntip "Bui" Nakhirunkanok in 1988.

Apasra's name became synonymous with beauty and she later married - and divorced - the owner of Central Group of shops.

Bui whose name is pronounced more like Pui means to "sleep like a baby". It also means fertilizer.

An interviewer was criticized for making a play on this fact on Thai TV back in the 80's when Bui's Thai language skill was a little shaky.

She later married Indian Pacers basketball team owner Herbert Simon and lived in the US and became a Goodwill Ambassador for children's rights.

But since 1988 there has been no repeat of her success in either of the two major beauty pageants.

So what do you think of the latest crop of Thai beauties?

One thing I do know is the Thai perception of beauty is very different from mine. I just prefer the girl next door look.

Reminds me of a slogan from years back:

'Fisons grows niceons'

Seems to work for some of the girls out here but others are flatter than Bangkok.

And here's me thinking a BIKINI was a two-piece suit.

I'm guessing Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp would be a bit more picky than me.

And I regularly take better looking women than those to 'resorts'.

@OneMoreFarangIs posting ones more to my taste.

I am sure some of those ladies look alright in an evening dress. But they all look somehow out of place in a bathing suite - no idea why anybody would call those things bikini.

This is a bikini!

"Miss Thailand" always seems to be models that look European, either because they actually are half Causcasian or because they have plastic surgery to give them a more European nose, eyelids etc.

It's weird. You think they'd be a bit more secure in the way they look especially as many of the more natural looking Thai women are very beautiful. I guess they consider that natural look to be too plain...

We won't be popular here, BritManToo, but I agree. At best I'd find just one of the pictured girls attractive. Maybe it's the way Thai women (esp. models) have changed in recent years; way bigger, taller, and more 'masculine' looking. None of which attracts me particularly to women, which is strange, cause I am quite attracted to tall blondes. ????

Need to do a close examination with less clothing to make a full assessment. Any more photos?

There is one I find attractive enough to want to talk to......but I wouldn't either.

Only because I'm pretty sure the final "quote" I got would be well out of my price range.....

..........and yours.

First half-Thai crowned 53rd ‘Miss Thailand’

69DA9ABE-C861-4DF3-B5AA-2A6B46BB17C5.jpg

“Manita Duangkham Farmer” became the latest Miss Thailand last night (Sunday), also becoming an ambassador for the country’s tourism and culture.

The newly-crowned Manita is a Thai-American, born and raised in Phuket, who graduated from Bangkok University in Communication Arts. The 25-year-old beauty queen is apparently the first half-Thai to win the title of Miss Thailand, which was held for the 53rd time.

Although several Thais of mixed race parentage have won pageants, such as “Miss Universe Thailand”, over the years, Miss Thailand, known locally as “Nang Sao Thai”, is different.

I can stand on a sidewalk in Bangkok, and it does not take more than 20 seconds before a stunner walks by. Very few countries can boast that. It is almost as if they lace the water with some sort of beauty agent!

The fascinating thing about Thai women, is that they are all of mixed ethnicity. Few know it, and few will admit it. But it is nearly 100%. Going back to the days of ancient Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, Thailand was a major trading nation. And people from all over the region came to trade, many of whom stayed. Producing the most astonishing women as a result. Indians, Sumatrans, Burmese, Cambodians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Turks, Persians, and more.

Combine their innate femininity, and the level of comfort they have in expressing that, and it makes them very appealing. I see a  Western woman sometimes, who is beautiful, but cold as ice, and more masculine than I am, and there is no appeal, whatsoever. I think it can be described as the ability to manifest the dignity within femininity. Or, a woman who is not trying to be a man, having lost her sense of womanhood, along the way. Or a woman who is in touch with her body, and not plagued with feelings of shame and a fake sense of purity. Also, some Thai girlfriends, lovers and wives realize that a man enjoys sex, and allowing them that enjoyment, freedom and pleasure is just not a big deal. And enjoying it along with the man is not considered such a horrible fate!

Lastly, there is a comfort level in the playing of roles here. It is an amazing quality many Thai women have. Allowing a man to be a man, and enjoying being a woman and acting like one. What is more appealing than that? And who wants to be with a woman who is more masculine than we are anyway?

My heart truly goes out to my many friends in the West, who struggle daily with the very difficult women there.

Of course beauty is entirely subjective. But as follows, some here are astonishing.

These are not "bikinis."  These are called "one-piece bathing suits."

These are "bikinis."

Once in a real bikini, ethnicity no longer matters.  All women in bikinis are beautiful regardless of ethnicity or country of origin.
