Popular Post snoop1130
BANGKOK (NNT) - Prapas Lueangsirinapha, chief of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) Traffic and Transport Department, said the administration is considering designating additional motorcycle lanes to tackle the high number of accidents in the capital. He said the administration hopes to improve the safety of transport in the city under Bangkok’s long-term development strategy and to achieve a net-zero traffic injury and fatality by 2032. Mr. Prapas said the fast lifestyle and recklessness of people in the city, especially motorcyclists’ driving behavior are the main reasons for the high number of road accidents in Bangkok. As motorcycles are involved in most road accidents, the city is planning to designate special lanes for motorcycles to reduce accidents. Lan Luang Road heading towards Ratchadamnoen Avenue to Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge will be designated as a pilot area for the special lanes as this section of the road is large enough for two extra lanes for buses and motorcycles. If the pilot project proves the special lanes are effective, the department will expand the project to other areas in Bangkok. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-02-07 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. I think they would be better off designating special zones for cars and letting the MC's go where they please as they do already! As an extra thought; Just look at the farce of cycles/cycle lanes/ and the new Highway Code in the UK! 3 1

There is no organisation, or any person, on this earth that can claim a "net-zero" of any, not just traffic, injury and fatality from anything apart from natural selection, and even that is debatable! bkk6060
It is actually a good idea for here as almost 85% of fatalities are motorbikes/cycles. But, it would take many years to re-engineer the roads to accommodate this. Will probably never happen, unfortunately 10's of thousands will die in the mean time very sad.

Mr Meeseeks
Better to educate them on right of way, not to lane split etc. Cheaper and more effective. 99% of them don't have a clue what they are doing.
JonnyF
These motorcycle lanes (if ever created - highly unlikey) will be just be used as a shortcut for the usual idiots in their Benz, BMW, Pickups with silly stickers all over it and black smoke out the back, taxis and all the other groups that think the rules don't apply to them. Why? Because the police are too useless/lazy to stop them.

Xonax
Something needs to be done about the problem. During the last two years 1 Million motorcycles have been added to the roads in Bangkok and the main part of those are delivery drivers all driving like there is no tomorrow, just to make an extra couple of Baht per day. I regularily drive my motorbike in Bangkok, but the last two years it has become way more dangerous, as the delivery drivers are now swarming around you on all sides, searching for the tiniest small opening to push their bikes ahead in traffic. I would very much like to see statistic figures, showing exactly how many accidents delivery drivers are involved in.
