Popular Post webfact
By Jonathan Fairfield A three meter tall statue of a man fighting a shark, which officials hope will become a new cultural landmark, is set to be built in Hua Hin. The statue will be constructed near the Chao Pho-Chao Mae Thapthim Shrine which is located close to the Hilton Hotel in downtown Hua Hin. On Wednesday (Feb 9), Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, Mayor of Hua Hin, Ms. Busaba Choksuchart, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin, and Mr. Jeerawat Prahmanee, Municipal Clerk, met with Mr. Boonkerd Attanisakorn from the shrine to discuss the building of the new statue. Unveiled at the meeting was a miniature clay model of the statue which was designed by Mr. Kittichai Treeratwitcha, a professor at Silpakorn University (Wang Tha Phra) in Bangkok. Tarteso
A bad copy of a John Terkel’s statue (The old man and the sea). But here I see a ugly statue, without artistic or creative interest. It looks like a 3D drawing designed for a Walt Disney movie. IMO compare…
pookett
Unfortunate photo, at first glance the mic stand behind the man looks like a comical nose! Tasteful or not comes down to cultural differences.
Popular Post JonnyF
Ugly. Looks like the shark is taking a dump. I wonder what the other candidates for the statue were? Man slaughtering a pig? Chubby tycoon shooting a panther? 1

Popular Post Wuvu2
How stupid - People bitten by sharks in Thailand are extremely rare ( 5 incidents and only one death since 1966) ...why plant the notion that the ocean is unsafe? Statue of a farang fighting a Jet ski scammer would tell a much more believable story. 2 1

BusyB
There is already a huge one outside the "G" Hotel and shopping complex on Phetchkasem, can't remember the soi but it's between Bangkok Hospital and Market Village. Repulsive work. Betrays an appalling attitude to nature. When I first saw it I was walking towards MV and from the front it looked like someone riding a shark. As you walk past it you see he's stuck a knife in its back. Very Thai in some ways ???? Edited February 11, 2022 by BusyB editing errors

I'm still waiting to hear the origin of the story of why a man is stabbing a shark in the head. 1

DoneTravelling
They are just copying the one that already exists at G Hua Hin Resort & Mall, Soi 94 Phetkasem Road. Typical Thailand.
