US DEA agents and Thai police commandos mount raids across Thailand: "Jay Chiang Rai" in custody

In the 80's it was widely considered that here in Thailand it was organised such that it was the army that controlled the flow of drugs coming over the border and the RTP were responsible for it's internal distribution.  Does anyone think that there is any change in those arrangements these days ?

And some are in government positions now and in the past.

  • Perhaps there was a need for the US DEA to have a presence in these raids so that the Thai police didn't let them "escape" after picking up a few brown envelopes.  Perhaps more of these type of raids

  • I think you will find the DEA have been working in Northern Thailand especially for decades.

  • What on earth are US DEA agents doing in Thailand? Will they also be shipping the perps off to the US? I have a real problem with the US seeing its legal jurisdiction extended to the whole world.
