It's not required to do. It's about equality in choices.

I can see no reason why they shouldn't have to experience the same tedious, soul-destroying hell as the rest us. Why should they get off..

Correct, even without a legal document.

I wonder what would happen if they stripped the rights of a heterosexual marriage, as they have now.. wife/husband dead.. you are not family so no rights. Your partner in a hospital, you can't anything because you are no family, just a few things you don't need to worry about.. but samesex couples  have to accept??

Oh we would get used to it and adapt and adopt other legal mechanisms to cater to all our needs.

Hetero here, but it does seem a bit ironic Thailand being behind on this, beens as they’re generally accepting of anything goes, at a societal level at least. Perhaps face at play, but more bureaucratic silliness. Actually looking at a map (below), Asia in general is behind along with the usual suspects where freedom is an issue.

What seems to be open minds with people such as Ladyboys being well accepted in society here, I don't get the issue with this.

Thailand is actually very conservative. Its one of the most religious countries in the world. Look beyond the superficial.
