Queen Sirikit Hospital Satahip

I mean major operation like tumor removal from colon and stuff like that, do they have a resident onccologist, any info much appriciated.

Had a biopsy for prostate cancer done there a few months ago. Only cost 10000bht for three days. so it's cheap. The Urologist did a good job I think. The room was a bit 'iffy' but the nurses were good. Food awful but You can get better from the Supermarket if you want.

No Staff Oncologist. I understand only PBH has that animal. Expensive of course....

I hear that Sittahip has lost most of it's best Doctors to Private Hospitals where the pay is much better. So I would not have a major op there......The big Public Hospital in Sri Rasha would be my bet.

Or if you check out the recent posts about good Cancer Doctors you will find one in BKK who is highly regarded by his patients. I wish you well my friend. Hang in there now.......

I honestly wouldn't have a major op outside BKK- most of the top specialists are there. My recommendation would be Bumrungrad, but BNH and Samitivej are also very good.

Maybe you should go check them out. In any case you MUST get a second opinion before undergoing major surgery.

Good luck

I know I'm going to get a lecture for this but money is a limiting factor right now.

the immediate problem I have rght now is I am dehydrated, I have been taking loads and loads of water with electrolite suppliments in it all day - probably about 4 ltrs worth and it ain't going anywhere, I still have not been for a pee or anything else for that matter, dehydration has been one of my issues last few days so I started drinking electrolite suppliment water to try and rehydrate

my urine system has basically ground to a halt.

It goes without saying that if economy prevents you from going to Bumgrad or one of the others by all means check out the Queen. I've never been under the knife there but made one visit to check it out and was impressed that it looked a lot better than expected.

Dehydration is a very serious issue here, suggest you get yourself into a drop asap anywhere if you are really dehydrated.

Sound advise from Phil. Dehydration in itself is a killer. Lad here decided to clean the bottom of his sailing dingy to save money. All day toiling under the boat in the heat drinking electrolyte drinks, result almost total internal organ failure. Life saved by emergency doctors but long term damage done. Extremely good quack warned him off electrolyte drinks saying the salt content in them far too high and a major cause of his break down.

Drink plenty of water mate not that expensive junk. Final word to my boy was he had a lucky escape and to never drink electrolyte drinks. Tons of water and a packet of crisps was the quacks sage parting words.

I wish you well, get into Hospital soon.

Mr. Harkness, please go see a doctor immediatly. You wrote on about 9 June that doctor at Queen Sirikit Hospital diagnosed a prostate gland infection.

I think you are not dehydrated. You are not passing urine. Is the bottom of your abdomen - where the bladder is - soft or hard? The 4 L you are taking in is not being passed - it must be stuck in your bladder because of the prostate problem and you need to see a doctor to have him evaluate the situation. If you don't pass urine from the bladder it will back up to the kidneys and the situation will get worse - bladder infection, kidney infection, ----------.

Go back to your doctor at Queen Sirikit. Go to Banglamung if money is so tight. You have to go somewhere!

Do you have someone to go with you and help you through this? PM me if you have no one and I will come.

Tammi, you're an angel.

:o

I sent a a friend to Navy Hosp in Sattahip about 3 years ago she had to get her piles cut out. In and out in 4 days total cost 27,000B they got a quote from BPH and were told 255,000B. My friend was very happy with the treatment from the Navy Hospital. When I lived in Jomtien my Wife had strict instructions that if anything happened to me I was to be taken to the Navy Hospital in Sattahip.

Hope that helps and you get better real quick.

Cheers Tony

Thanks everybody for the very very good advice, Tammi thanks for the offer and yes I am doing all this alone (not easy as I get the impression some of the staff in that hospital are not too happy about falang being there) went to the hospital first thing this morning, got some fluids and some more tests, my prostate is fine.

I didn't want to spill all this out here but here is a summary

My colon is blocked near the rectum

I am in constant pain

I am unable to absorb water because my colon has shut down operations

I have not eaten any food now for about 8 days ....... too painfull

I am going for a colonoscopy tomorrow to find out what the blockage is

When I drink water it just goes straight through and out the back (with a bit of effort - yes even water is difficult to get through) so

the water is not being absorbed into the body through my colon as it should, my kidneys are having a break

I had a long chat with a good english speaking doctor today and I took the opportunity to ask some

good questions about the hospital success rate for operations etc, he said he would have no hesitation himself using the place, they have a very high success rate for problems like mine as they are very common, nothing specialist

so if I need surgery I will have it done there I think.

Thanks everybody for the help and advice, I'm quite well tuned into things usually but sometimes you can do too much thinking, my head is up my ass at the moment (pardon the pun), I.ve had a splitting headache for 3 days also on top of all the rest

Thanks peeps and sorry for sharing.

We are all very worried about you Pal. So keep us in the picture will ya?

But do get a second opinion before drastic surgery. I wouldn't have any Balls now if I had not !

Nip up to the big hospital that is sign posted on the main road jus before you reach Sri Racha for another opinion asap.

Are you English? Maybe it would be better to get on a plane back to the UK and have it seen too there free of charge.

I am glad you have decided to get it seen too, the longer you leave things the worse they get generally speaking.

Good luck!

It's your decision, but if you have confidence in the staff there then maybe you should go ahead. I am no expert, but it sounds to me that your condition is too serious for you to move somewhere else and cerainly not abroad.

If you have any breathing space before making the final decsion I stronly recommend that you PM Sheryl. She is an absolute expert in all things medical and gives wonderful advice, and knows the hospitals and the sytems in Thailand She doesn't normally respond on the Pattaya Forum but is very active in the 'health' forum. So if you have time, try her and see what she suggests.

Good luck mate, and take care

Mobi

PS Jai Dee, would it be possible for you to get hold of Sheryl, and she what she suggests? She is the closest thing Thai Visa has to it's own Doctor. Maybe she could speak to gharknes if they could be connected up somehow?

Good suggestion Mobi.

Unfortuneately I have to log off now to attend to some business, so won't be online again until tomorrow morning.

Perhaps someone could PM her?

I have Pm'd Sheryl, but if she gets the message, she will really need gharknes's phone number if she is to give advice properly.

OP, if you are still on line can you Pm her your mobile number?

Sharing is what human relationships are all about especially when ones head is up one's ass - unfortunately it's at those times we sometimes don't share - animal instinct and all that.

Sorry to hear that some of the staff perhaps are not too happy having a farang patient. Suggest you imagine a covering of love around them - believe me, it works! Put it around yourself as well.

I noticed that Sheryl is looking at this topic so look forward to hearing from her on this. Have read some of her stuff and she is obviously better looking than I am, is younger, and knows a lot more.

Please keep us informed. Will be thinking of you. Where are you now? At home? In hospital?

I am feeling ok, has a chat with Sheryl and she was extremely helpfull and I have no doubt will be going forward

thanks everyone

PS I keep seeing lovely food on the TV, it's killing me - I can even smell it.

Those electrolyte drinks have a heavy salt content. Try water with lime or lemon. Try hot tea with honey and lemon - drink it at close to body temperature. Watch out for the salt, it is in everything here.

Thank you, Jai Dee.

Reading Sheryl's stuff I learned about a 3 day mascara made by Revlon and Cover Girl lipstick that stays on all night! Must get some.

Mr. Harkness I hope all went well today and everything is fixable. Colonoscopies are yuck - hopefully you were well sedated.
