the outcome sought by Ukraine and democratic countries is that Russia removes its troops from all of Ukrainian territory.

Russia as a state is not threatened, neither is its territory. 

I guess sanctions will stay until there is a significant regime change in Russia.

....and they can take their separatist mates in the DPR, who fought alongside them, back to Russia as well! 

 

....and return the 1 million Ukrainian citizens Russia transported to gulags and concentration camps.

The US is delivering missiles and artillery to Ukraine which will allow it to target any missiles and artillery sites used to attack Ukraine. The US' stated intention is to so weaken Russia that its military will be spent and it can't threaten any cities or countries again for the foreseeable future.

The only outcome in which Russia will be welcomed back into normal relations will be if Putin is delivered to a war crimes tribunal and Russia pays reparations to Ukraine.  Failing that, sanctions will continue and Europe will continue to reduce its reliance on Russian gas. While Putin remains Russia is finished as a world player.

Suggest that your take may not be correct long term. EU is planning on opening up corridors to Polish Baltic sea ports to transport the trade. Why would Russia waste missiles for this purpose when the corridor is complete?

Result of the Austin call to Sergei Shoigu. "the official tempered expectations on the impact of the call, saying it wouldn't solve any "acute issues" or result in "direct change" in Russia's military actions or increasingly hostile rhetoric."

 

If your scenario played out with Russia retreating to continue firing missiles for years to come then how do you think they may afford it or even have any left? They've already run out of micro chips for some military equipment and robbing then from washing machines. By that time just about all the European countries will have switched to alternative supplies of energy. Russia will have lost all the revenue and the sanctions will still in place. It would collapse and regime change could well occur.

 

Its lost its standing for years to come, quite rightly so.

That would make the missile launch sites in Russia legitimate military targets, and Ukraine will have the weapons that can reach them.

The current Russian administration, including Putin are about as believable as those who were the power mongers who were supporting Hitler for several years. A gulag is too good for them. 

Perhaps their fate should be either left to International Courts or those who have been forcibly  removed  to Russia since its invasion of another nation.

Perhaps Putin and company should be accommodated in one of those forced repatriation  camps awaiting transport to an International Court

Regardless, this unprovoked Russian war of aggression has brought about a change strategic policies policies throughout Europe and beyond.

Just another of those barbarous weapons they use, watch this horrendous explosive line operated mine clearer. They are intended to be used in fields and open areas. They are shot up in the air in a large rope that covers a huge area then on impact it explodes. They have been using them to blow up residential buildings.
