Vietnam confirmed another 86,966 local Covid-19 cases on Sunday in sixty-one cities and provinces, and Hanoi continued to lead the tally.

The capital city reported 11,517 cases, followed by northern Quang Ninh Province with 5,997 and northern Lang Son Province with 4,960.

The Health Ministry confirmed 94 more Covid-19 deaths on Tuesday, including seventeen in Hanoi, raising the national death toll to 40,144, or 1.2 percent of the total infections.

The fourth wave that hit Vietnam last April has until now been responsible for over 3.24 million cases. Of them, more than 2.41 have recovered.

Of 797,027 active patients in the country now, 3,190 are severe cases.

Around 75.3 million people of the nation's 96-million population have been vaccinated with two doses, including children aged from seventeen to under eighteen, and more than thirty-eight million adults from eighteen have received the third dose.
