The summer season in Thailand runs from February through May, as the weather tends to be warm this time of the year.

Mammals, especially dogs and cats, are susceptible to rabies. As a result, many people and animals die from highly infectious diseases.

In response to the authorities have launched an initiative to vaccinate pets and animals across the country.

The initiative is aimed at stemming the spread of diseases such as rabies to reduce the problem of rabies-associated epidemic and death of pets and people.

Rabies is often rampant around this time of the year, Manat Dee, the president of Khlong Niyom Yatra Sub-District Administrative Organization, said, adding that pets would be prone to symptoms.

He said that it was evident that in Khlong Niyom Yatra Sub-District, there are some 1,000 dogs and cats in total.

Now how many sub-Districts are there across the whole country? Rabies is a terrible disease resulting in agonising death yet no one will bite the bullet and load the guns.  Thailand is 70 years behind Europe in this respect.

Here's an idea - gather up all soi dogs and euthanize them.

Address the issue Before it becomes a problem.

Simple solution to an ongoing problem, but the usual 'we are Buddhist and we can't harm animals' prevails.

The fact that they slaughter 100's of thousands of pigs and buffalo doesn't even register. ????

agree a cull is needed..

They need to get serious about the stray dog problem in Thailand if they ever want to come close to resembling a developed country.

It's exactly the same with road safety.

There's no will or authority to do what is necessary.

Toom tabards the lot of them.
