Popular Post webfact Posted March 29, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2022 The chief of TV Channel 5 was today sacked, less than two weeks after he met the Russian ambassador to Thailand to discuss news cooperation between the army-run broadcaster and Russian news agencies. However, General Rangsi Kitiyanasap insisted that he resigned on his own accord. “I submitted my resignation,” he said citing “personal reason” for his decision. The move came one day after a news programme on Channel 5 was interrupted mid-air while the anchor was introducing a news story on the situation in Ukraine. The segment was immediately replaced with a commercial. Popular Post smedly Posted March 29, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2022 I don't usually watch any Thai news channels but they have 2 choices, either send a news team to the Ukraine to report directly or remain silent 4

cncltd1973 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 That explains why the sister-in-law is pro-Putin, I was wondering where she was getting her propaganda from. The trade school that an employee goes to has quite a few pro-invaders also. They should be careful what they put on TV, too many people admire aggression. 2

What surprises me is that western educated people are among them. I tried to ask one the other day why she took the stance she did. The best I could get out of her was 'reasons'. When I asked where she got her news from I received an answer that all my friends back Putin. So facebook and Line. I suggested the BBC or CNN would give a more balanced view. "Never read western news" was the reply. There is no hope for this country. 7

The PM has denied any responsibility for activities at Ch. 5. But "someone" was unhappy with "excessive" analysis by Ch. 5 commentators. Channel 5 is (partially) publicly funded by taxpayers. 1

The Russians have purchased quite a bit of Property in Phuket, especially the Rawaii Area, and have opened up many real-estate businesses or work for real-estate companies. 2

Since the 2014 military coup, the Thai Treasury has been controlled by the pro-military coalition. The "public" is irrelevant on how the government budget is established. Note that with regard to the budget approval process, former coup leader and current PM Prayut and Cabinet submit annual government funding plans to the House. Currently, the pro-military coalition controls the House. Furthermore, the military appointed Senate vote must confirm any House approval on budgetary issues. 4
RafPinto Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Everything is military here. Even massage shops. I was laying down, relaxed and suddenly the massage executive told: Wake up, stand up. 500 baht. Quick I thought i was in a military drill. 1 1
Srikcir Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 More than 20,000 people from 52 countries have already volunteered to fight in Ukraine's foreign legion. March 2022 www.dailymail.co.uk The majority are European and North America, some 500 from Belarus (!) and some Japanese volunteers. Ref. www.dw.com I don't expect PM Prayut will encourage Thais to fight for Ukraine.
