A new tunnel opened in downtown Da Nang on Monday after two years of construction to reduce traffic congestion to and from the city's airport.

 

The tunnel with skylights runs 950 meters long below Duy Tan Street from the intersection of Duy Tan and Le Dinh Tham streets to Tran Thi Ly Bridge that crosses the Han River in Hai Chau District.

 

Costing VND723 billion ($31.7 million), it spans 15.5 meters wide with two lanes in each direction.

I didn't notice any traffic congestion between the airport and Da Nang.

In fact apart from the airport bus, there was hardly any traffic on the road.
