Popular Post webfact
By Nop Meechukhun Bangkok – The Royal Thai Army today, March 31st, had released an apology statement to the public for TV Channel 5’s “broadcasting problems” while presenting news coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war on Monday, March 28th. The signal disruption occurred when Channel 5, owned by the Royal Thai Army, was reporting about the war and political tension between Russia and Ukraine on the afternoon of Monday. This also resulted in the withdrawal of the TOP News team, who arranged and anchored the news for the channel, by the end of this month. Popular Post bobandyson
30+years in Thailand and I've never seen anyone watching ch5. I've only caught sight of it when flicking through the channels when looking to see if a particular sport event was being broadcast by someone.
Oxx
Why the quote marks around “broadcasting problems”? Is this suggesting that something nefarious was going on?

unblocktheplanet
Pretty telling that in our Constitutional democracy the military has its own propaganda channel. Can't think of another country which has one. Can you?

RobU
Disruption whilst reporting on the Ukraine conflict and then the news team was withdrawn? Sounds more like the disruption was deliberate because the news team were reporting something they shouldn't have then the news team was taken out of circulation. The only ones I've seen watching ch5 are military personnel and families / relatives and some farmers. But there are 2 noticable exceptions: Ch5 was IMO good (the best?) during both the Tsunami and the flooding.
zzaa09
Shouldn't the apologies be directed towards the ideals that traditional military power controls much of the establishment media? Are we missing something or what?
