Webfact: ...... pre-arrival RT-PCR test scrapped.....

It would be more, much more reasonable to make the test before entering (flying to) Thailand. But the only reason is to make money here in Thailand by a special group near to the military.

and what happens if your test comes back a false positive?

A nationwide alcohol ban over Songkran might save many lives on the roads.  Not a bad idea!

Only newbie farang not get alcohol in LOS in Buddha day or if they ban hole sale! But he or she not should drive even bicycle here anyway. And should remember walk right side on street or stay in all inclusive hotel!

Mayority of people who test positive using ATKs are not in the statistics as they go buy paracetamol, ibuprofene or some magic "Thai herb" to cure themselves at home.
Last week a property in the village was sealed off cause of home quarantine. Didn't stop other family members and neighbors from drinking and bbq there in the evenings. They probably didn't want the poor guys to be isolated 24 hours. ????
Guess they are still all alive ...

Just commenting not judging.

No one seems to care much anymore people are drinking, eating and having a lot of sex in Pattaya.  Girls packed into bars and massage shops no masking or distancing even without Covid,  seems uncomfortable claustrophobic conditions.

People are just doing what they want.

Also, I bet Songkran is not canceled in fact I can see Pattaya reverting back to a pre virus craziness party from built up frustration the cops will be able to do nothing.

Yes, good to see things almost back to normal.  There are no plans to cancel Songkran, in fact they've confirmed it's going ahead, as if anyone really thought it wouldn't!

Not even the highest number of PCR test and ATK tests together..... Of course the numbers will rise. The Government wants to show that Songkran is dangerous and by rising numbers the Thai people will believe it too, they think. Is that no brainwashing??

I don't check it every day, so what is the highest number then piease ikke.?

This is obviously good news for the Thai Oligarchs who have been making BIG MONEY quarantining unwary naives tourists (now mostly from the Middle East and India as Western tourists are now largely aware of the scheme) for 14 days at a cost of 10000 baht/day. Do the Math. Most of these victims have caught Covid while in TH (when tested for the 2nd time on the 5th day).

Notice that the government figures never show the age groups or co-morbidity. One never knows what really killed these people. Control-19.

They do though, they are published daily however even then you'd probably not be satisfied unless they had an accompanying death certificate and autopsy report to pick apart.

this article is still puzzling in light that people are vaccinated or still getting vaccination.

Out of the 50k people who tested positive , how many were unvaccinated or vaccinated, and what type of vaccine they have originally got.?

By now, the population should have received 2 vaccinations plus a booster shot.

I believe people are not getting vaccinated or vaccination with a poor vaccine that requires a booster shot. that is why the numbers are getting higher and we are not yet in Songkran week yet.

This virus is airborne. Social distancing will help but not effective.

The government should impose vaccination . People will need to show their vaccination card if they want to go to public places and government building, ....etc.

The red text at the bottom of the far right graph says 87 of the 92 new deaths reported today had NOT taken a COVID vaccine booster dose.

The rest of the chart from left to right: 14-day average of daily new COVID cases, serious COVID hospitalizations, COVID cases intubated, and daily new COVID deaths.

Tourism in Thailand and Covid-19

given the high number of covid 19 cases in Thailand., would it be safe for visitor to be tested before arriving.

the chances to test positive in Thailand within the first 5 day after arrival is quite high. It just mean that the chances that a visitor ( or his family) to be isolated in an expensive hospital is quite high at a cost of Baht 100,000/person

Visiting the Kingdom for holiday  now is still not a safe thing - coming to Thailand for your family or business is enduring as long as one stay long term..

To put this into perspective, the UK has reported that 4.9 million had Covid in the past week alone, with 1 in 13 in England having Covid in the same period. But the UK has learned to live with it and opened up everything.

Sort of agree, however the UK have very high vaccination rates to protect the elderly and also have on hand some excellent covid medications and antibody treatment for the vulnerable that are home delivered for them to take. Better than the stuff they have here.

For those who haven't been paying attention, two doses only doesn't provide much protection against Omicron.

That third booster dose -- where Thailand is only in the mid 30% range of vaccinations -- is what's really required to best protect against Omicron.

Sinovac's Revenge. 92 deaths with (officially lol) just 28,379 new cases, that's a lot for Omicron.

Case fatality rate this year 0.25%

Cumulative case fatality rate 0.69%

Case fatality rate is share of deaths vs total numbers of official COVID cases

Not really, as no-one would take any notice. Everyone and their dog knows to buy early, and if they forget or need more there is always someone who sells. During the 2020 alcohol ban we got ours from my policeman brother-in-law.
