18 month old child immunizations in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Can I get the immunizations for the following in Thailand?

I'm keen to return but my wife wants to wait until our son turns 18 months so he can get his 18 month immunizations.

I would prefer to pay to get it done in a clinic in Thailand.

18 months

Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)Measlesmumpsrubellachickenpox (varicella) Diphtheriatetanuspertussis (whooping cough)

You can get all of these in Thailand.

If your child is a Thai citizen, the DTP (diptheria, tetanus and pertussis) and MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) at 18 months will be free at a government hospital or health center.  Hib is free but in Thailand there is no booster at 18 months.

You would need to pay for  chickenpox avccine.

Living in Thailand your child should also get immunized for Hepatitis B (HBV) and rotavirus if not already, and for Japanese B encephalitis. The latter s/he will not have gotten in farangland but it is quite important. Free for Thai children.

Pre-exposure rabies vaccine is also recommended for children here, but not free

if your child is nto a Thai citizen then would have to pay for all vaccines.
