Hi , I’m after some advice from anyone who has applied for the O Spouse visa from Australia.

Im looking to accompany my wife to Thailand for a three month visit.

We will predominantly stay in her home in the Surin area.
Looking at the requirements I have a couple of questions,

Will her home address satisfy the question of where we will stay.

This one:

“copy of the visa or work permit of a spouse or parent who is currently working in Thailand”. My wife and I are retired and live in Australia so I can’t fulfill this requirement.

Do I just ignore that part of the application?

The financial aspect, I assume I just show I have money in my bank her in Australia?

Thanks for any advice

You wifes address in Thailand will be accepted.

Ignore the work permit part. That is only for those working here for their family members to get a non-o visa.

The equivalent of 20k baht in a bank in Australia will be accepted.

Your marriage certificate (if in Thailand it’s the pretty one) will be needed and probably a letter in Thai from your wife in Thai. The letter is required in the Tokyo embassy.

Thanks Ubonjoe ????

The marriage certificate is a must and the letter from your wife.

it does not need to be written in Thai. When I started doing my spouse visa’s I just typed a letter out and my wife signed it. I also put my wife phone number on it. Never had a problem

The Tokyo embassy wanted a hand written letter, they would have accepted it in English or Thai, however few Thai’s are good at written English so written Thai is the easy option.

different embassies

different embassy Officers

different requirements

whatever works is good.

How will they know where you would stay. I used to enter random hotel pre-covid when I used to apply for a tourist visa, a decade ago.
