With just about 1:3 EV owners waking up and going back to ICE, who of our local members want to raise their hand first? I would say that's a fair assessment for the "former colonies". But in Thailand, we have an abundance of charging stations, cheap but high quality Chinese EV's, so the issues mentioned in the McKinsey article (sponsored by Toyota?) don't exist here. I agree on autonomous driving, a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. 1 1 1

Popular Post josephbloggs Posted June 18 Popular Post Posted June 18 Slightly off topic but I am in the UK for a couple of weeks. BYD are major sponsors of the Euros. Pitch side electronic hardings, TV Commercials for the Seal during the breaks. No other car manufacturer is advertising at the Euros at all. Like it or not, BYD has major ambitions (and I do like it even though I don't own one). 1 1 1 3

Unlikely to see many Byd seals on the road in UK with prices ranging from the equivalent of B2,1 million baht to B2,2 million baht and the majority of car insurance companies stock reply is computer says NO for policy Exclusive: Some Chinese cars ‘almost uninsurable’ as parts and repair support falters Parts shortages and a lack of technical support are giving insurance underwriters the jitters when it comes to the new wave of Chinese cars hitting the UK The BYD Seal is one example of a new Chinese model that is hard to get covered, with very few insurance companies prepared to underwrite it. We searched a leading comparison site and were offered just three very high quotes, compared with the dozens of competitive quotes one would expect for a mainstream rival. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-insurance/362519/exclusive-some-chinese-cars-almost-uninsurable-parts-and-repair-support Edited June 18 by vinny41 add 2 2

(just as a reminder, topic is about ev's in thailand) It is a translation thing Mr. Red Ant. Just like we had the news article with 10,000 EVs not "running". It was a translation of not moving, as in not selling but ended up being not running. Read the meaning, not the individual words.

In recent years there has been increased competition in the sub ฿500,000 EV market. 1 2

There was a fire at a Petrol station in Surin this week, one of the few that didn’t have any EV charging! I drove past it yesterday and it was totally gutted. The sooner they are replaced by clean safe EV charging stations the better. Thailand has some of the worst air pollution in the world they should seriously consider Ultra Low Emission Zones for city centers with financial incentives to help people dump the pump. I think they just have too much time on their hands and just like to troll. I don’t have anyone on ignore but I just skip through their posts as it generally nonsense and I don’t have that much time on my hands. As an EV as well as PHEV and ICEV owner, I think that EVs are really the bees knees, best thing since sliced bread. The ride is so smooth, the acceleration so imperceptible that very often, I surprise myself at the speed that I’m travelling at. I’m definitely a convert but as I’ve said many times before, it’s not suitable for everyone. Home charging, frequency of long distance trips etc etc. That’s why I have different vehicles for different situations. Same reason why I own both a phillips and a slotty. 1 1 3 2
