Following a series of four rapes and attempted rapes and robberies in the area provincial chief Pol Maj-Gen Chumphol Phumphuang gave local chief Pol Col Wirot Tatso three days to make an arrest. Taken into custody at a friend's house in Bang Ken was Nares Mantapong, 35, from Khon Kaen. The media reported that on April 11th the suspect had entered a ladyboy's room on the second floor at 3 am via the unlocked balcony to avoid CCTV. Wirot said that the suspect had just got out of jail at the end of last year after committing rape and robbery. On the 3rd he entered a ladyboy's room in Soi Wat Sri Waree and stole 1,000 baht. On the 11th he got 200 baht in the incident where the ladyboy ran down the stairs. On the 14th he got 4,000 baht after threatening a woman who resisted.
