How many days do I have to have booked at a hotel to successfully complete the Thailand pass application?

None, if you are fully vaccinated. You should keep up with the news and read other threads etc, as the need for hotels finished May 1st.

not for quarantine but you still need proof of booking as I understand it for the Thailand Pass

No, you do not. At no point in the Thailand pass application process is hotel booking asked for.

Well all I can say is that I managed to obtain a Thailand Pass last week without providing any "proof of booking"!

Well my family are coming over soon ,is our house  ok as a hotel?????

The OP probably meant the e-visa booking process, which indeed requires a proof of an ASQ hotel booking. Just did mine yesterday and uploaded a letter explaining that quarantines are no longer required if vaccinated or tested negative 72 hours before flying, with a screenshot of the relevant Thai government website page. I will see how that goes.
