Poh Teck Tung rescue services and police in Samrong were called after a 40 year old motorcyclist from Maha Sarakham drove his Yamaha Fino down an open electrical shaft on Sri Nakharin Road in Samut Prakan last night.

Workers were down the 7 meter deep hole at the time when Saengathit Nonyaso dropped into the under ground power cable chamber. He wound up in one meter deep water.

Site foreman Phraiwan Meesopha, 41, told 77kaoded that the area had been properly sealed off with cones and an electric sign.

But the motorcyclist came at speed the wrong way.

A six minute video published on YouTube showed the highlights from a one hour rescue operation to haul the stricken rider up to street level and take him to hospital.

Aren't those holes suppose to be boarded up and barriers erected from all sides to prevent pedestrians and the workers themselves from falling in regardless from which direction the biker came?? ...

Rules are not ever followed here.  Watched as a Grab rider ran into a group of sidewalk walkers as he decided to ride up on the sidewalk going the wrong way and they were exiting from the MRT......

Darwin insisted that some species amd some members of those species were more fit for survival than others. It would appear the roads here, and especially motorbike riders, are a perfect example of his theories in action.

It takes certain qualities to survive on the roads here. Patience, being very conscious of your surroundings, driving defensively, following basic traffic rules and laws and avoiding being overly stupid, at all times.

Let´s see: wrong way, speeding and didn´t see the hole.
1. Do not know right from left.

2. Sudden cramp in the right hand.

3. Why the heck did the hooooooleeeeeee! Thump!
