I like Makro, but the bread? Not so much.

Agree.

I buy my bread from Big C extra, they have a great range of bread.

Lots of wholemeal and wholegrains to choose from.

Theres been no ARO Wholewheat bread for a week and I found out theres no Wholewheat flour

For reference:

Fortunately MAKRO in Siem Reap currently still sells whole wheat bread but not so many loaves. Being sold alongside MAKRO seed (?poppy) bread. I managed to purchase 3 whole wheat loaves a couple of days ago. Plenty of white bread. All produced in  "on site" bakery.

I know the Makro on Pattaya's Sukhumvit has a small office/bakery staff next to the bread section, how hard is it to ask them?  Maybe Aro wheat comes in later in the day.

Most of the world's wheat comes from Ukraine and Russia.

Little to none has been exported for four months, resulting in a doubling of the price and a serious shortage.

My local Makro store in Lampang has had no whole wheat bread for a month now.

Exactly. First actual info I asked for

So then if there's no Aro whole wheat bread in Makro per the staff, why not find another brand/store, Makro isn't the only supplier of wheat bread in all of Pattaya, right?  No need to make a mountain out of a molehill.  There's many groceries goods not available to us farangs, we learn to deal with it.

Doubt there's a wheat flour, flour shortage ... maybe an "I forgot to order enough' shortage.

I've actually noticed that sometimes Tesco's is out of sliced bread lately.

There's not much choice really.  I think theres "Farmers Pride" or "Tesco's Bread".

Lately if I see it in stock I'll buy a loaf just in case there out on the next visit.

TH's import of, along with a bit going out.  First link explains a slight drop

in demand for wheat, and I guess without 30m ish tourist, makes sense:

https://www.world-grain.com/articles/16225-thai-wheat-imports-forecast-to-decline

https://oec.world/en/profile/bilateral-product/wheat/reporter/tha#:~:text=Thailand imports Wheat primarily from,United States (%2420.7M).

I'm sure I am missing something here, but would $15 worth of wheat to Qatar really be considered an export? ????
