Covid is back in Pattaya

There is some new strain going around now, it doesn't seem to be detected by the Chinese ATK tests. Lots of people I know have it, they are typically sick for a few days, then okay.

I had intimate contact with 2 peopke just before their first symptoms, so I might be confined to bed for a few days. Or my 7 vaccinations may protect me.

I don't many of these cases are reported officially. Aa long as the hospitals don't fill up, this wave is nit a big deal.

Influenza typically circulates here during the rainy season, so it could be regular flu.

  • It didn't go anywhere

I had last week "flu symptoms" for 3 days, other people also.

Must admit I know a few people with it at the moment (after a quite a while knowing known) . Luckily no one is really sick, as others note, very mild for a few days only.

So how do you know it's Covid? Surmise? Differential diagnosis? Just jumping to conclusions?

Too bad it's no longer called Thai Visa.

Every post could start with:

I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV......

Eight years reading Thai Visa and I just now got that.

Had it two weeks ago. Sick for fours. Didn't test positive until the fourth day. Felt almost the same as the first time. So much for the three vaccines. Mine was brought down from up north not from pattaya

Actually, i do. I got a set of vector virus vaccines in Thailand, and the full set of MRNA vaccines in the US.

Plus, i have received a booster every 4 months or so, because the vaccines lose effectiveness over time.

If everyone tests negative for covid then it's likely the flu, remember that flu we used to suffer from yearly. Be careful about speading fake news about covid outbreaks, otherwide you might end up under repressive government restrictions again. It seems like some people want to continue to feel like they are surviving an ongoing pandemic.

I suspect that BA.5 can bypass vaccines, but is not very strong.

flu is nowhere near as contagious as covid which is pretty much the only show in town

Sars Covi-2 will never leave us...it is here to stay. To date there is no new strain.

Yep, just another corona virus (flu) that will be with us for generations to come, as are the prominent A & B.

Surely there's plenty of new strains, just not tested or mapped as not causing any real problems.  30+k genomes, there will plenty of new strains.

Covid is back in Pattaya?  I don’t think it was ever eradicated there.  And Covid  might not be a big deal for some people. Getting minor symptoms.  But serious for others.
I see the OP has seven vaccines.  I guess you can get as many as you want.  But as of this time it is medically recommended to only get four.

Cold/Flu symptoms for a few days but test neg with ATK tests. Sounds like a regular cold/flu strain is getting around. Not every cough/fever/runny nose is covid-19.

If they have the symptoms of a cold or flu and test negative for Covid, isn't it most likely that they've actually got a cold or flu?

Corona Viruses are not Flu... Influenza is flu... both are contagious respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses.
