Online learning reintroduced at Bangkok school after hundreds of students, staff get COVID-19

After eight weeks of on-site classes, Bangkok Christian College has decided to reintroduce online learning, from July 11th until July 19th, after 688 students and 70 staff members were found to be infected with COVID-19.

Thailand with a falling baht caught in stagflation spiral with high inflation and low GDP growth

Prices in Thailand rose by 7.66% in June, a 14-year record driven by rising energy and food costs. Now the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) is conceding that heightened inflation of between 6% to 7% may also extend into the last quarter of the year while peaking in Autumn at up to 9%. On Wednesday, the Minister of Finance Arkhom Termpittayapaisith (inset) stressed that there was no capital flight out of Thailand from debt markets.

Norwegian family on sightseeing trip tumble down ravine in southern Thailand - grandmother dies

INN reported on a family tragedy in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, southern Thailand, when a Norwegian man and his Thai wife took the family out on a sightseeing trip in the Ao Thong Yang area.

Dawn Raids: Murder victim "necklaced" after dispute at motorcycle repair shop

Naew Na Thai Caption: Criminals defeated - 17 suspects nabbed including necklacing/stabbing cases

 

Naew Na were another Thai media reporting on dawn raids conducted by Thai commandos yesterday. They reported a case involving a form of necklacing (putting victim's in vehicle tires). Though the victim in this case was already dead.

A tourist police officer and another man were arrested by Nonthaburi provincial police and local administration officials late Thursday night, after they had allegedly demanded protection money from pubs and bars in the province.

Entering post-pandemic era, Thailand sees 29,000 daily COVID infections since June 25

As Thailand struggles to enter a post-pandemic period, an average of 29,000 people in Thailand have caught COVID-19 every day since June 25th, bringing the accumulated total of COVID out-patients to 207,643, according to Spokesman for the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin.

Thailand, ASEAN to Make Statements on Attack against Shinzo Abe

BANGKOK, July 8 (TNA) – The foreign affairs minister said Thailand would contact other member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to prepare a joint statement on the gun attack against former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe.
