Popular Post Scott Posted July 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 12, 2022 Liz Cheney at Jan. 6 hearing: Trump is 'a 76-year-old man,' not 'an impressionable child' The House select committee’s series of public hearings resumed Tuesday with panel Vice Chair Liz Cheney telling those watching that the idea that then-President Donald Trump was “incapable of telling right from wrong” while perpetuating the election falsehoods that fueled the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol is “nonsense.” “President Trump is a 76-year-old man,” the Republican congresswoman from Wyoming said in her opening remarks. “He is not an impressionable child. Just like everyone else in our country, he is responsible for his own actions and his own choices.” https://www.yahoo.com/news/jan-6-hearing-liz-cheney-trump-76-year-old-man-not-impressionable-young-child-180728321.html 2 1

By and large, the powerful and wealthy get by with much more than most of us do but in this case the Jan 6 is also very powerful. The two witnesses were good. Not very dynamic, but it was good to hear from people actually on the ground. It makes it more real and less abstract. 6
Popular Post Scott Posted July 12, 2022 Author Popular Post Posted July 12, 2022 Trump incited Jan. 6 attack after 'unhinged' White House meeting, panel told WASHINGTON, July 12 (Reuters) - U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday accused Donald Trump of inciting a mob of followers to attack the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in a last-ditch bid to remain in power as Congress was formally certifying the then-president's election loss. In video testimony shown by the House of Representatives committee investigating the riot, witnesses described a loud late-night six-hour meeting on Dec. 18, 2020, where Trump disregarded White House staffers who urged him to concede the November 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden. Instead, Trump sided with outside advisers who urged him to keep pressing his baseless claims of election fraud. Committee members said Trump ultimately was responsible for the chaos that followed. https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/us-capitol-riot-probe-turns-focus-trump-allies-extremist-groups-2022-07-12/ 4
bendejo Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Let's not ignore the cherry-bomb at the finale Liz Cheney: Committee informed DOJ that Trump attempted to contact a witness not yet seen in the hearings Quote “That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call, and instead alerted their lawyer to the call. Their lawyer alerted us,” Cheney said. “And this committee has supplied that information to the Department of Justice.” Oh wait, the DOJ. Nevermind. 1 1

She’s putting Country and Constitution (the things every elected representative takes an oath to defend) before her personal political career. The GOP has gone so far off into rightwing extremism that Liz Cheney is being applauded by patriots for doing what until 2016 was regarded as expected solemn duty. It’s well past time to turn the investigation onto the enablers of Trump’s crimes in the GOP. 9 1
