Unlimited Ta Finally

Hey, received a post from TRUE today. Went to my account with TA and I was given the option to switch my subscription from the current 50 hours at 1024/512 to unlimited 4096/512!!! Seems unbelievable to me but doesn't hurt to try I guess. Any other TA members out there who can do this? Obviously I'm not expecting 4mbps but hey Y not. As I've posted before on this board, I'm very confident and satisfied with the TA service so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. Oh yeah, and the cost is only 2200 baht per month!! They will deactivate my old acct. 4 a couple of days to apply the switch so I'll post here the results of my speed tests.

thanks,

This is talked about in several of the current ADSL/TRUE threads. Yes, it is true. :o

My 256/128 service was upgraded to 512/256 unlimited automatically. Only change is I use xxx@truehisp now for login. Connect speed is 577 and speed checks to US have run 400-500 so no complaint here.

You say you are on 3mbps....isn´t then a download speed of 220kb/sec rather "slow" (that would mean a download speed of barely 27kB/sec!!)?

I got that one with my "old" adsl connection in Phuket which suppose to be only 256kps!

Just wondering if you maybe confuse kb with kB....

I am very interested in this new devlopment, as I just moved to BKK and I will have to get a adsl connection for my new apartment soon, so I would be happy to hear some real life speed reports (specially of the 4mbps deal...beeing a speed junkie.... :o )

@Ian_B:

That sounds better! :o

I also had that problem until recently until I started to learn for what the capital B stands for in kbs or kBs...lol

Looks like True is definitely the way to go now if you are getting a new connection.....

So, do you also have to sign up with an ISP or what ?

TRUE is the overall name for the combined UBC/Orange/TA/AsiaNet operation so the ISP is part of the package. Just one sign up and payment.

And is it available in Chiang Mai?

No.

I thought this was the big city of the north, the hub of the region. A center for thriving commerce... TRT, that's enough already. Just keep your mouth's shut and keep expectations low and we'll all be happy, or at least not dissapointed.

Anyone have any idea when all the good ADSL deals will start appearing outside Bangkok?
