If she is in the UK what is her immigration status?

Not the case if he registered a marriage in Thailand then it is automatically recognized in the UK, if divorce proceedings take place in the UK then all assets anywhere in the world can be taken into consideration(Scotland an N Ireland might have some differences.

See if you can talk to her and see what she wants

And get a consultation with a UK solicitor as mentioned

I just looked it up and no fault divorce is now in place in the UK.

Your wife would be entitled to 50% of assets acquired during the marriage.

Surprised to see that Thai marriages are automatically recognised in the UK, that is not the case in many countries, thanks.

Good of you to get involved. Too bad this doesn't happen every time someone really needs help and truthful answers

Surely if wanting to protect assets in the UK you need a UK lawyer?

The Thai marriage certificate must be translated and submitted to British consular authorities and will be registered in the UK upon validation.  Not automatic, so unless the UK spouse did so the marriage doesn't exist under British law.

13. Will my marriage be valid in the UK?
As long as you follow the correct procedure under Thai law, your marriage will be recognised in the UK. You may want to consider translating your Thai marriage certificate into English and getting it legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand or the Royal Thai Embassy in London, especially if you wish to use it outside of Thailand.

14. Can I register my marriage in the UK?
No, and there is no requirement or facility to do this in the UK. You will need to keep a copy of your local Thai marriage certificate as evidence of your marriage.

a thai divorce is the best way to go as anything you had prior to marriage remains yours and not hers, you are also entitled to 50% of what you had in Thailand. If she wants half of your UK business she must then get her own UK lawyers etc and take you to court, if you owned the UK business prior to marriage it will also be in your favour plus you can always give your daughter a pecentage of the UK business lowering what you wife is able to claim if at all
