Epicurus Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Just arrived from Singapore a few days ago. Checked passport, no TM6 slip ?. Is this a new thing or did I lose it. 1
FrederikKitten Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 So what does it mean? No longer needed? Even for people who have them? 1

Gaccha Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Last week, it was needed on my visa extension. I had to go off and get a photocopy. But my understanding is they don't require presentation of it if you never got it. I know the 90 days address no longer has a mandatory line for it. Obviously, it's slightly stress- inducing since procedure requires a police report if it is lost. 1 1
Troy Tempest Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 As usual total confusion abounds when they make changes to immigration rules. Some airlines are still giving out the TM6 cards whilst many are not. I have heard of people arriving with a filled in TM6 card (since the suspension) and the card has either not been stamped (rendering it useless) or kept by the IMO. Has anyone arrived back in Thailand since they suspended the TM6 requirement and had issues when renewing their retirement extension or other TM6 issues????? Does anyone have a "FREAKING CLUE" about this situation. Maybe One for Ubon Joe? 1

I can understand Scrap it... I can't understand "temporary suspension" Soon to go to Oz for couple of weeks and presumably when return will not have a tm6. Early next year need renew TDL. Can just imagine that chat... Them: "Where is your TM6" Me: immigration airport no give. Them: "No have you go to CW ..they give you TM6" As the saying goes ..."leave the damn thing alone" 3
KhunBENQ Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 At the land border procedure as usual. And it's hardly a "card" anymore. What you keep is a thin paper slip about 9 by 8 cm. On the back you find a copy of the entry stamp. At KK immigration a copy was asked for. No idea what happens without. 1

Eff1n2ret Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 When I checked out at BKK a week and a half ago the young IO at the Fast-track desk seemed confused at my 3 year old TM6 with its faded stamp. She called over a senior officer who appeared simply to put date stamp on it and leave it on the desk. As well as the TM6 they seem to have dispensed with the triangular embark stamp, as there is none in my passport. As I supplied a full set of fingerprints and a photo I assume the re-entry permit is sufficient to get me back in next month, but I've kept the boardin card just in case. 1

Watch out.....If you have no entry or exit stamp maybe they will think you entered illegally? Crazy F**kers! I suggest you check your passport again. 1
Kalasin Jo Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 On my recent flight in from Paris I was given a TM 6 to fill in and did so, although I'd read they had been recently dispensed with. Sure enough the IO at Suvarnabhumi handed it back to me. Not needed she said, just your passport and, if you have one, visa. I might add how different to my exit from Thailand in August 2020 on a repatriation flight and entry to Thailand at the beginning of February this year after over a year away, a nightmare of paperwork, and tests, vaccination certificate, full PPE staff at Suvarnabhumi, and beyond and 5 days sequestered in a quarantine hotel! 1 1

Thought you need Cert of Res plus passport copy , entry stamp and all that bumf? Certainly never shown a TM.6?

"To apply for a Residence Certificate , you will require the following documents: Your passport (as proof of ID) A copy of your passport's photo page. A copy of the last entry stamp from your passport. Copy of your visa (if applicable) A copy of your TM6 Departure Card. A photocopy of a TM. Immigration have a history of doing stupid things. I can easily imagine that at some point in future the tm6 will be required and if you don't have one you trot off to immigration. 1

My point is in 20 years i've never needed it for that. I've recently got Res Cert without TM.6, no issues. Immigration office fully aware they're not in use anymore.

I did one year ago at MTT for residence certificate. That's not the point. They have described it as "temporary suspension". I got burnt with the "temporary suspension" of 90 day reporting 2020. Only to have Bangkok immigration insist that anyone who skipped reports needed to apply in person to MTT in Aug 2020.

I suspect not all the authorities involved wanted to make it permanent but agreed to make it temporary as a trial run to see how it works out. 10 minutes ago, DrJack54 said: I got burnt with the "temporary suspension" of 90 day reporting 2020. The 90 day reporting is required by the immigration act and a TM6 is not mentioned in it.
