iahcapus Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Folks, A Chinese friend of mine needs help right now. He came to Thailand with his parents as a toddler and overstayed the visa ever since. Now he's got a chance to immigrate to USA thanks to his parents' US citizenship (they immigrated to the US 5 years ago but couldn't bring him together because he's aged out according to the US immigration law). He said it's no fault of his that he had to overstay the visa, and since he's illegally here, he can't extend the validity of his Chinese passport. Basically he needs a valid travel document, i.e. a valid Chinese Passport or a valid Chinese Travel Document, that allows him to travel to the US. He fears that the fact that he's illegal here will be the basic ground for the Chinese consulate in Bangkok not to issue him such a travel document. He no longer has intention to stay in Thailand for he is immigrating to the US. He is also willing to pay any panelty fees incurred by the unfortunate visa-overstaying periods. If you folks have any slightest idea of how to put his ordeal to an end, please kindly shed a light to this topic by replying only constructive thoughts. Millioins of thanks to you who could provide a little help here. Regards,
