Bus driver blames door that opened all by itself for accident that injured 11 - he's also tested for alcohol

77kaoded Thai Caption: 11 injured as bus slips off road

 

77kaoded reported on an accident in which 11 passengers including the conductress were injured when a #134 Bangkok bus from Mo Chit to Bang Bua Thong left the road at a bend in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi. 

 

The driver Athit, 50, claimed that the door next to his seat suddenly swung open in a rain storm and as he tried to grab and close it he lost control and veered off the road.

 

He was breathalysed but had no alcohol in his system.

The bus was taken to the Bang Yai police station where it is being examined. The driver was also being further questioned.

 

Passengers had broken arms, head swellings and facial wounds and were taken to three area hospitals following the incident yesterday evening.

May I ask a couple of stupid questions please..........How many were wearing seat belts, and how many seat belts were functional.

In which country do normal buses have seat belts?  Name one.
