The driver Athit, 50, claimed that the door next to his seat suddenly swung open in a rain storm and as he tried to grab and close it he lost control and veered off the road. Maybe he was distracted by something else like his mobile phone? I wonder if the police will bother to check his phone usage... probably not. This driver should have played the safe card of 'lap noi' which everyone would have considered perfectly acceptable!
